Tourist question about the casinos

Hey Phoenix - i'll be visiting the area this week from Philadelphia, and i'm wondering if anyone has clues to the table minimum bets at Talking Stick and Ft McDowell casinos. Which is cheaper and when, and do the minimums change? Same goes for poker, whats the better experience, where are the fun games? How do the buffets compare, how about the players? Thanks, appreciate it!

When your man doesn't ride (first 2,200 mile solo trip)

Hey moto fam! Big thanks to everyone who commented and recommended routes and stops through the Southwest. Planned this trip over 1 month, and definitely used your advice out there. So, thank you. Especially IllIII!! Right off the bat, I’d like to provide you with a quick TL;DR link to some trip flicks.
I covered 2,200 miles over 7 days of riding around Arizona, California, and Nevada. It was a great way to start the new year. This map is neither complete nor 100% correct, but it's the best Google would let me produce. Gives an idea of the ground covered. Odometer view by the end of it all. And yes, the title is a little misleading as most of my girls ride, but I really wanted this to be a solo adventure without a dude on the back of my bike.
Day 1: 200+ miles. Phoenix (Tempe to Glendale) to Tucson (Mt. Lemmon). Rented a Dyna via EagleRider and set out to ride around Phoenix before heading to Tucson on the 10. Loved the bike from the get go, as it was absurdly comfortable on the highway. Got to Tucson and headed up Mt. Lemmon (so cold by the top!) before sunset. Felt like every minute further was a degree colder. Checked into a B&B I’ll recommend to you all: Jeremiah Inn. Don’t worry, I switch to Motel 6 & 8 by Day 3, guys.
Day 2: 150+ miles. Tucson (Mini Time Machine, San Xavier Mission, Saguaro NP) to Globe. Set out to the museum (I’m @dailymini, so it was fitting) then right to San Xavier for a walkthrough inside (avoided the tour) and right on up to Saguaro NP (Kinney and Bopp so I could send some love to combichristo’s fam). Beautiful park, not a lot of cars on the road. Headed up 77 North to 60 and settled in Globe for the night. Highly recommend this B&B converted from a schoolhouse. My room was massive. Headed out for dinner and when I tried to navigate back to my hotel, kept finding myself on top of hills and on dead ends. Recent construction made the routing hard, and had one close call on the edge of a little cliff and on to a 5MPH rock (huge rocks) road into someone’s backyard junkyard. Sorry about my 5 minute U turn on your property, sir.
Day 3: 300+ miles. Globe to Payson to Sedona to Jerome to Prescott to Wickenburg. Woke up to a delicious breakfast and took 60 to 188 N passed Tonto NP and Roosevelt Lake. Pretty sure a Mexican Wolf ran in front of my bike, but maybe it was an enormous coyote… Continued from 188 to 87 to 260. The ride through 3 NPs (Tonto, Coconino, Prescott) was breathtaking. And cold. So many different landscapes, I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Cacti to snow-laden forests, to rich green forests, to red rocks. It was absolutely unreal. 10/10 would ride again. Headed to 89A and arrived in Sedona. Super touristy, tons of traffic with all the roundabouts, so cruised down the bike (bicycle) lane and hopped no hippie cop would pull me over. Success. As soon as I saw signs for 89A, I was so excited to take it down. Absolutely phenomenal route. Can’t wait to do it on a sportier bike I can throw around a bit more. Jerome was also quite touristy, and super hilly. Be aware if you’re afraid of heights! Continued down 89A from Jerome to Prescott and saw one of the most amazing sites on a moto ride, the split mountain roads in Yarnell. Couldn’t fathom what I was seeing, and riding through! Can anyone share a photo so I can put it up at my desk to day dream?? 10/10 would ride again. Made it to Wickenburg for the night, cute town.
Day 4: 400+ miles. Wickenburg to Vegas (Lake Mead, Hoover Dam) to Death Valley. Woke up and thought, I have 2 options today, cruise around Arizona or just go full force into this trip and attempt Death Valley before the end of the day. So glad I chose the latter. Left Wickenburg to take 93 north up to Nevada (did I miss a sign for Nothing, AZ? Didn’t see any markers). Passed through Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, on to Vegas and continued on 160 to Pahrump. Filled up my tank (wishing I had a spare can with me) and went on Bell Vista Rd into Death Valley at around 2 PM. Little concerned about losing the sun and running out of gas, but I went in as far as mileage would allow and took a ride up to Dante’s View. My phone either froze or just had an iOs fail, because it wouldn’t turn on when I got there. In need of a selfie and furious at the timing, charged it up on the bike and had some fellow tourists snap a pic of me. Got back to a casino hotel for a smoker’s buffet (gross) and sent out some “Happy New Years!” to east coast buds before passing out before midnight.
Day 5: 350+ miles. Pahrump to Oatman to Lake Havasu City to Quartzsite. Headed to Oatman to see some donkeys and check out Route 66. Nice ride. Continued on 95S down to LHC and the ever-so-lovely Havasu Springs near the Colorado River. Knew I wanted to shop the gem show in Quartzsite for souvenirs (let me live), so I wound up there for the night.
Day 6: 400+ miles. Quartzsite to Joshua Tree to Carefree (Horseshoe Dam). Woke up and felt the weight of my trip coming to an end, so pushed for a long day. Mostly highway, took the 10 to JT NP for a quick loop. Roadrunner ran across my path, so awkward. Highways some more, took the 10 to 60 to 74 so I could check out Carefree and Cave Creek. Per recommendations, took it down to where pavement meets dirt, and wrapped up the night in Phoenix.
Day 7: 300+ miles. Phoenix (Usery Mountain Regional Park, Tortilla Flats) to Gila Bend to Phoenix. The trip coming to an end, headed to Usery Pass/N Bush/Ellsworth to see if I could find any of the Salt River wild horses. Coyote or fox ran across my path, just a little guy. Then, it was time for Tortilla Flats. So beautiful. So glad I did this ride. Yes, the road was shitty and it felt like a broken carnival ride, but so worth the pay out at the end (THAT VIEW!!!) The ride back was a little quicker, knowing what the lil twisties were all about. Stopped at a swap meet to see some friends and then it was on to Gila Bend for the last of it. Rode 10 down to 85 for a scoot through farmland with enough straightaways to take my first few moto selfies. Bird flew into my helmet, not sure if he made it. Looped back the same way and ended up in Glendale for the night.
Day 8: 50+ miles. Phoenix. Saddest day ever. Looked for some miniatures and took her back to EagleRider. So much of the trip was themed “no one in front of me, no one behind me” because I really did have the roads and views to myself. Highly recommend Arizona as a moto getaway and looking forward to coming back soon.
THAT'S A WRAP! Thanks again for making it here, and yes, the same TL;DR for you fine wheeled fam.

TDD & MST.TV Oscar's YCS Seattle Tournament Report

Hey /yugioh, it's time for another long in-depth tournament report. This time for YCS Seattle where I failed to do anything significant but here we go anyways. Turn up the tunes and enjoy the story.
Background
If you aren't interested in a story, skip down to the bolded actual tournament report.
A little background on the months leading up to this event. Originally, I wasn't planning on playing YCS Seattle. I was testing and playing Magic the Gathering's Modern format in preparation for GP Vancouver. However, several months before GP Vancouver (MTG YCS), YCS Seattle was announced on the same weekend as GP Vancouver (fuck me, right). I still wasn't going to go play YCS Seattle anyways because I already committed so much of my time, and money to that format. Not to mention it was Zoodiac format and I didn't want to join the mad rush for cards.
With my decision made, a close friend of mine who knows the owner of Yuigioh Dank Deals tried really hard to change my mind. Yugioh Dank Deals, a facebook buying / selling group, was putting together a team. Being part of that team meant that your cards would be provided to you for a large event. Seems kind of convenient for Zoodiac format. My friend talked to me about it and I suggested a well known player (who top 32'd YCS Seattle), Chancy aka Squiddy. However, the owner wanted more than just Chancy from the pacific west coast. For reasons unbeknownst to me, he also wanted me on the team because a Nationals top means something. With that, I was now part of Team Dank Deals, which makes naming these kinds of reports kind of difficult because I'm also part of MST.TV.
Well. sigh. I guess I'm playing Yugioh then. Time to shelf the MTG cards I just spent a small fortune on.
I spent the last month preparing for the event, testing the Zoodiac deck with my play-group and with my team, and requested from my close friend and well-known vendor. I started with the popular Zoodiac Kaiju build, straight net-decking from Japan, but ultimately came to the conclusion that Raigeki & Dark Holes were superior to the Kaijus and it made the deck more consistent for the mirror match that I expected to play a ton of. I also drew Terrortop like a motherfucker in testing. The deck was designed to grind games instead of focusing on the Slumber + Rat OTK by just throwing a fuck ton of traps at my opponent while gaining a very nonpunishable advantage with the Zoodiac engine.
Days before the event, I finalized my list and sleeved up, what I was told, a $1,000 yugioh deck. Shout-outs to Hector and Marcus for providing me with my list. You can check out the group here to pick up some sick deals on cards.
Irrelevant Decklist that sucks because I didn't top:
Monsters 16 3 Zoodiac Rat 3 Zoodiac Snek (Whip Tail) 2 Zoodiac Throughblade 3 Terrortop 1 Taketomborg 2 Maxx "C" 2 Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit
Spells 15 3 ROTA Tenki 3 Zoodiac Barrage of money 1 Raigeki 2 Dark Hole 2 Twin Twister 2 My Body As A Shield 2 Instant Fusion
Traps 9 3 Dick Barrier 3 Solemn Stroke 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Vanity's Emptiness 1 Seasonal Shit of Zoodiac Combo
Extra Deck 15 2 Zoodiac Drident 2 Zoodiac BroadBull 2 Zoodiac TIGER AKA BEST GIRL 1 Zoodiac Boarbow 2 Daigusto Emeral 1 Gagaga Samurai 1 Steelswarm Roach 1 Totem Bird 1 M-X-Saber Invoker 1 PK Break Sword 1 Norden
Sideboard 15 3 Imperial Iron Wall 3 Anti-Spell Fragrance 1 Gameciel 1 Dogoran 1 3300 Kaiju 2 Interrupted Kaiju Slumber 2 Forbidden Chalice 1 Coach King Bearguy 1 Coach King Giatrainer
The sideboard was designed to make the best out of turn control. Flood gates for going first, Imperial for Mill.dek, Coach King engine for going first to +90259230, and the Slumber engine to go 2nd and murder guys. Originally, I was siding the entire 7 card Kaiju engine, but cut it down to the 5 because I was siding out Dark Holes when I was boarding in Kaijus. With the 5 card engine I would be boarding into a total of 5 board wipes, 3 kaijus instead of 4 board wipes, and 4 kaijus. I wanted to draw more board wipes so this made sense. Chalice was sided as an insurance card against shitty Vanity's Fiends & Flying "C," which I knew untested players would play. Our group was already well past those cheese cards in terms of developing the meta, but a lot of people from our area was playing Quaking Mirror Force, which I did not agree with. At one point I considered siding Twin Twisters, but felt that it would be too greedy and I needed it for rogue decks. Overall, I was incredibly happy with the deck list, even after the event.
To the Tournament!
Day 0.
I got a sick airBnB for our crew and it could fit like 20+ people. We decide to go down in the morning so that we have time to enjoy our place, cook dinner, and test a bunch! Great idea! We have 2 cars go down in the morning, and 1 car in the afternoon for a total of 15 people. We get to the US Border while making Trump jokes at 12:00. We leave the border at 2:30. We didn't know one of our friends was flagged and we spent an hour and a half in the border. Great start.
We drive down to the venue immediately to pre-register. I submit my registration in hopes of getting the token, but they tell me I need to submit my list. I hand my packs back and go contemplate if it's worth it to write my list now. I think it's not, and then run back to register. The line was dead at this point and the guy hands my packs back. I crack them open and pull Zoodiac Barrage! It was truly destined for me. Later on Nishi picks up the token off a trade and gives it to me. I give my two binders to my vendor friend (Marcus) who supplied me with Zoodiacs to get the most for them, but he spends almost an hour with the vendor selling his own cards and the venue closes. If only we had an extra 2 and a half hours.
We wait outside the venue like rats as Marcus is still dealing with the vendors, somehow even after the venue is closed, and he manages to secure 9 more Terrortops, and 2 more invokers to finalize 3 more Zoodiac decks for our group. At the end of the day, our group had 7 Zoodiac decks and we even had extra Barrages. Crazy.
We go pick up some shit at Target, then go get vanilla white food aka Red Robins. We catch our 3rd group coming in to Red Robins by pure coincidence and we all go back to the house to chill. If you wanna see the house check out our vlog. The house is absolutely massive, and the master bedroom shower had this magical heater that made the room super warm even after you got out of the shower which was probably the most important thing in this whole trip as I now know exactly what kind of bathroom I want when I buy my house. Yes, this is still a tournament report.
I don't make any changes on my list, and write the deck list after minor testing. I was honestly all test-ed out (is that even a term? it is now), and at this point I just wanted to sit down and play 12 rounds of YGO, preferbably back to back with no breaks and no food.
Actual Tournament Report
Time for actual YGO! My mindset is YGO ready, but I'm a terrible morning player. I'm hoping for some easy rounds to start with, and know later on in the tournament is where I will shine.
Round 1 Vs. Rodrigo playing Zoodiacs
Great. Mirror match. It's okay, I'm totally prepared for this match-up as it's fairly skill based and I have a TON of practice with the mirror. I'm feeling pretty confident. Game 1, I open the absolute nuts and I beat him to death with a Totem Bird, Drancia while under Emptiness and he was just throwing Dimensional Barriers at me in the battle phase and I would just instantly pass turn when he did. Solid start. Game 2, I lose out because he went first and I didn't draw any answers for Drident, making it very hard. Game 3, I board into the Coach engine to open nutty turn 1 boards, but brick out with Taketomborg and Zoodiac Combo turn 1, and he manages to establish a solid bard into my shitty opening making me lose.
Not a good tournament start I hoped for.
0-1
Round 2 Vs. K.C. playing Dinomist
Okay. I felt kind of bad. I was literally just throwing money on the board to win the game. At one point his one Dinomister card was staring down 2 Emerals, 1 Drident, 2 D-Barriers, and a Solemn Strike with 6 cards in hand. He was a chill guy though and he lost R1 to Zoodiac which made me feel worse.
1-1
Round 3 Vs. Calen playing Majespecter
I 2-0 him pretty handedly. Game 1 he opens poorly and I proceed to level him. Game 2, he opens strong with Bunbuku 4 backrow. I summon terror top into it and use it to force Bunbuku off the board so he can't tribute Bunbuku to use his traps. To thin out live backrows. Then I combo into him and he just loses because he's playing dead backrow against Zoodiacs and I keep poping his scales.
2-1
Round 4 Vs. Rodrigo playing Metalfoe Zoodiac
I was honestly fearing this match-up because we underestimated this deck as a group during testing. I saw the results it was putting up in the last weeks regionals and was honestly, quite scared of the match-up. But I chalked it up to people not being able to complete full Zoodiacs, and trusted my teammates advice that 3 strikes, 3 dimensional barrier, and 3 anti-spell was very good against Metalfoes. G1, he goes first and establishes a Kirin board. I play patient and set 3 backrow into it. I eat a ton of damage, but he passes another turn to me. I flip Dimensional Barrier, calling Pendulums, and play Dark Hole to clear his board of answers. Then I proceed to play scale control, while being backed up by a Solemn Strike. Game 2, he doesn't open the nutty board and I quickly grind him out of resources.
3-1
Round 5 Vs. Matthew playing Metalfoe Zoodiac
I guess lightning always strikes twice. Game 1 he goes first and drops Kirin and I make a joke about Kiring being banned. I try the Dimensional Barrier + Dark Hole Trick again after cycling into 2 dark holes and a Raigeki but lose out. Game 2 I open traps, and game 3, he bricks going first and I open Rat + Anti-Spell + a whole fuck ton of traps. Pink cards are good when you are playing a 1 card engine.
4-1
Round 6 Vs. Cameron playing 60 Cards Infernoid
He was from California, and BOY did he look BAKED the whole time. I'm pretty sure he was high out of his mind thanks to Washington's marijuana laws. I enjoy a good puff every now and then but this guy was clearly not going to let yugioh from stopping him from enjoying himself. With that said, he choose the best deck for playing while baked. Game 1 goes exactly how it usually goes with testing. He mows the lawn and I have about 14 dead cards in my mainboard against him. Game 2 I open sub-optimal but he doesn't open lawn mowing (which is a 43% chance to open, by the way, according to my smart teammates). I win out with a grind game. Game 3 he opens lawn mowing but is low on utility. I Rat + 2 Imperial Iron Walls + Strike + Spells. I play around his D.D. Crow monster that he dropped onto the board. Then, I set my backrow. Games in the bag. I flip Imperial, He shows me Decatron, I let it through and flip another Iron Wall. He Snows my Emeral and I don't care. He passes to me and I start the combo, he tries to D.D. Crow it with Decatron and I strike it (which is honestly not a good play because I could have striked Decatron to begiin with and saved an Iron Wall, But I wanted to hold Strike encase of any shenanigans. I put lethal on board and he extends the handshake.
5-1
Round 7 Vs. Johnny playing Zoodiac Kaiju
Another California guy who was a very good player and was super chill. At this point, all my friends are tired but I'm hitting the magical YGO runner's high that I get after playing 6 rounds and not eating anything and I'm at peak mental fortitude. I go first and think I have the advantage and he slamsTwin Twisties, Slumber, and Rat on does the YGO equivalent of yelling out "I WIN, YOU LOSEEEEE." Game 2, is very similar with me opening shitty and he takes me to the dumpster. So much for runner's high.
5-2
Round 8 Vs. Josef playing Zoodiacs
A guy not from this area. He looks uncomfortable in the mirror match and we go into G1. I go first and the game goes exactly like how it goes. The guy is unable to develop onto my board and I have too much advantage on him and eventually take him out. After game 1, he complements me on how "I know what I'm doing," with the match-up. I don't know what to say as it's round 8 and I think my opponent is trying to psyche me out. I find out after that he was truly genuine as he approaches me later on and starts talking to me about his Zoodiac plays and whether they are correct are not. G2 he wins due to inherent turn advantage. Game 3, I open the absolute nuts and resolve Coach King Combo against him and go +9 million. My ending board is Emeral, Coach King Giatrainer, Drident, Invoker, Tenki, with Torrential, Dimensional Barrier, 3 Solemns in the backrow, and with 6 cards in my hand. He Raigekis my board of 4 monsters but goes -1, and I continue to bury him in advantage.
6-2
I end day 1 with a X-2 record which means I'm a sure-in for day 2, and all I need to do is win tomorrow's first 2 matches to get top 32. Sounds easy enough. We go back after getting cheese cake factory with our huge party and we sing the loudest happy birthday that restaurant has ever heard with a 15 person ensemble to our mate who played YCS on his birthday.
I go back and instantly sleep to prepare myself for day 2. I pass my deck to my friend who pieces out the foreign cards for english cards in preparation for day 2 rule sharks.
Round 9 Vs. Daniel playing CHAIN BURN
Fuck me right off, it is too early for this shit. I'm not losing my YCS run to fucking chain burn, is what I told myself. G1, he lets me go first and I assume he's playing Mermail so I wall up with everything in defense. He goes set, demise, set 6 and passes. I attack into a set Card Car D, and I know what i'm dealing with. This guy has been X-2 playing chain burn purely against Zoodiacs. He's built to fuck me up. Great. I lose game 1 to burn while trying to pop my own cards at the end of chains so that he does less damage to me. Game 2, I push through him and he doesn't draw enough to kill me. Eventually the game ends with a 2800 Tigermortar attacking into a set Maxx "C," for piercing. He picks up the Maxx "C" to move it to the grave and I say "piercing damage?" He tries to backtrack and say that "oh I want to activate Waboku now" but it's too late in the game. A judge is called and the judges says him picking up the Maxx "C" into the grave indicates that he was okay with it being destroyed. Ultimately, it's not my responsibility to know if my opponent understands my cards are not. He did not ask any specifics of my monsters, so I assumed he knew. I mean it is round 9 of a YCS in Zoodiac Format. I take game 2. Game 3, I go first and he draws a lot of big burn cards and murders me. YCS Tournament run ended by chain burn anyways. I go outside and CHAIN smoke a bit.
6-3
Round 10 Vs. No Show
I end the tournament strong, and chill out beside a guy from London for a non-consequential free win. We talk about the YGO scene in London and how I could not find card shops when I was there.
I do not make top 32, as all the X-2-1s didn't even make top 32, as expected. I go enter a regionals side event but lose out round 1 because I'm playing on tilt. I enter academy duels with Team MST.TV and we lose out x-2 due to the rules changing in the middle of the tournament (Round 1 was played in matches, but Round 2+ were played as BO1). Our group does some crazy tokens with like 16+ people and the token guys get mad at us. Finally, we give Nishi a surprise gift (see the Vlog, or our channel) before calling it a day as a group.
BONUS WIN-A-MAT REPORT
If you didn't know. I have an infamous "win-a-mat" curse. In my 7 years of playing YGO, I've never won a win-a-mat. It's said that my final round opponent always begins the game with 5 cards of their choosing. I secretly enter a win-a-mat to try and break the curse on the down low. It's the last win-a-mat of YCS Seattle to fire.
Round 1 Vs. Zoodiac
Guy was clearly very good at the game because he drew Maxx "C" every game. In game 2 I had Maxx "C" too, but he had a second one. I still win the match anyways because he didn't know how to play the match-up and over extended into backrow while I kept my board presence and movement to a bare minimum.
Round 2 Vs. Zoodiac
Guy was, again, fairly inexperienced and I 2-0 him. Last memorable play was in game 2 where I bricked and I had 1 face-down. I bluff Dimensional Barrier against a Terror top and my opponent makes Totem Bird instead Invoker which would have killed me. He passes to me and I show him the Rat combo. He tells me "why did you make Samurai you don't have lethal." I tell him I know and attack him bringing him down low, I attack with Drident equip a Viper, and flip my face-down Zoodiac Combo to kill him. My final opponent is playing against Metalfoe Yang Zing beside me and was doing the standard strategy of going +1 million and just throwing cards at his opponent until they gave up. By this time it was already pretty late and my friends were finishing up whatever events they were playing. Everyone was looking for me and by the time I was ready to play round 3 a large crowd of friends have gathered to watch me lose my win-a-mat final
Round 3 Vs. Zoodiac
By this time, basically all my friends are here and even the my opponent and the judge are making win-a-mat jokes about me. Game 1, my opponent opens the absolute nuts (as I was told later on by a friend) including traps, Rat, Maxx "C." Basically everything you could ask for the in the mirror. He sets up and I try to push into his set-up unsucessfully while eating Maxx "C" and a dimensional barrier. I set 3 and pass. He shows his inexperience tries to push into the backrow and I bluff empty backrow. I let him make whatever and on the last possible monster he could have summoned I torrential him. Game 2, he's going first and I board into the Kaiju engine but don't see it. He opens the nuts again and shows me Maxx "C" when I play Instant on turn 2 after getting my monster Drident poped. I elect to play into Maxx "C" as I really had nothing and he goes to like 7 cards in hand. I felt buried and scooped. My friend later tells me that his hand of 7 cards was literally all dead and I probably could hae won that one. Game 3, I open the nuts and the game goes into the standard slippery slope.
I FINALLY break my win-a-mat curse! I'm honestly celebrating more than when I topped nationals and it made this entire trip worth it. The judge makes me sign a invite form for some reason and i'm confused. We get to the prize table and he they hand me the Zoodiac Mat and a regional deck box, which is not the prize for a win-a-mat. I celebrate with my friends and the judges come back to rip my prize out of my hand. Apparently there was a mistake. They hand me a shitty Aster Phoenix mat instead. Whatever, a win-a-mat is a win-a-mat. The Judge apologizes to me and tells me he is willing to sell me the Zoodiac Mat when he gets it for his Judge goody bag. I pick up the Zoodiac mat and the Beatrice Judge mat for like $50. What a bro.
Post Tournament
We finish strong and go out for buffet. I got me a metric fuck ton of Prime Rib to celebrate my first ever win-a-mat. My friend drinks a waffle with a straw, and they double or nothing on red at the casino. Good way to end a YCS.
Anyways, I hope you all have enjoyed my very long, YCS tournament report. I would like to thank Team Dank Deals for supplying me with cards that I wouldn't normally have and letting me play YGO instead of MTG. Shout-outs to YGO Fam, and MST.TV for being a solid crew for YCS. Shout-outs to breaking win-a-mat curse, which confirms I win nationals this year.
Until next time... remember to hold onto your backrow because Zoodiac mirrors are an aboslute nightmare...

Just got back from a 7 night/8 day trip - thanks for all your help, r/vegas!!

You guys were super helpful to me, so hopefully this helps someone else out down the line!!
We (boyfriend and I) booked a package through Southwest vacations, originally staying Sunday through Thursday and flying out on Friday but we stayed the extra two nights and flew out on Sunday in order to meet up with some friends. Originally we had a king room at MGM booked, but changed over to a king balcony suite at the Signature at MGM for the extra space/whirlpool tub.
The vast majority of our gambling was $0.25-$1 blackjack on the video poker machines - we didn't lost much money, and had drinks given to us pretty frequently at most casinos.
Sunday we flew in and got to the Signature at about 10:30am, we were able to upgrade to a 28th floor strip view suite for an extra $10 a night - we had originally been offered a 37th floor strip view suite for $30 a night, but went with the slightly cheaper option. Luckily our room was ready and we were able to take our bags upstairs right away. We headed to Planet Hollywood and grabbed lunch at Earl of Sandwich, walked around the shops then explored Paris and a bit of Bellagio and gambled a bit before heading black to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We took a lyft down to the Palms and did dinner at Alize - we had a groupon for the tasting menu at $200 rather than the original $350ish, but the meal was so incredible I'd probably be willing to pay full price. Originally we had plans to go down a floor to hang out at Ghostbar for a bit, but we were both so full and tired neither of us really felt like drinking. We gambled a bit before lyfting back to the Signature, then changed and hung out at MGM's casino for a bit before heading to sleep.
Monday we each used a free breakfast buffet reward from MyVegas at MGM, then lyfted down to Fashion Show and explored Encore/Wynn/Venetian for a while. We had a buy one get one free Bellagio lunch buffet reward as well, which we redeemed right at about 2:45 so we could get the perks of the dinner buffet offerings that were brought out at 3. Later on we checked out NYNY then took the free tram between ExcalibuMandalay Bay/Luxor and explored and gambled a bit while watching the CFB playoff. Again, we gambled a bit at MGM and made it to Emeril's JUST in time to grab a late night happy hour snack - the sign said 9:30-close, when we got there at about 9:40 the bartenders took our order right away as the kitchen was in the process of closing up. The apps were good, unfortunately we never made it back for oyster happy hour.
Tuesday we did an early lunch at Nacho Daddy (giant plate for about $20, easily fed both of us!) and explored and gambled around Aria/Cosmopolitan/Bellagio. We had a Groupon for a prix fixe menu at Koi at Planet Hollywood which turned out to be a great deal, and we hung out in the lounge for happy hour for a bit before that. We booked KA tickets a few days before flying out through the M Life site, which was an amazing show for a great deal.
Wednesday we used a buy one get one free MGM breakfast buffet MyVegas reward, then lyfted out to SilverCar and picked up a car for the day. We're both only 22 so we really struggled finding a decently priced car, luckily a Vegas redditor recommeneded SilverCar. Cost for the day was $39 and $12 in taxes/fees, and $5+gas. We drive to Hoover Dam/Lake Mead and then Red Rock. Since we had the car we decided to stop at In n Out, then headed up to Stratosphere for happy hour at sunset - neither of us really enjoyed the drinks or the view from the SkyLounge, but we had been spoiled at the Palms a few nights before. We also popped into Westgate, Circus Circus, Lucky Dragon and Rio before heading to the Welcome to Vegas sign and dropping the car off. My boyfriend is a pilot so we popped into the airport observation lot for a half hour or so - unplanned but incredibly cool!! We lyfted down to Caesars, went through the shops then explored and gambled and watched a few fountain shows before heading to bed.
Thursday was kind of rainy and windy, so we slept in and then headed to Aria and each used a free lunch buffet reward. We both thought this was by far the best buffet (and it cost less points than the Bellagio rewards!), and it's definitely on the top of our list to go to again. We lyfted down to Fremont and spent the afternoon/early evening exploring all of the casinos and watching the light shows, then did dinner at Hugo's Cellar at Four Queens. Hugo's was recommended by family friends, we both thought it was OK but not great. We sat down at some penny video poker machines at the Fremont Casino, which happened to be right next to the bar and wound up with about 8 drinks each in an hour or so span. We lyfted back to the Signature and headed to sleep.
Friday we grabbed lunch at Taco Bell so we could officially say we had eaten there, then explored the middle part of the strip (Ballys/Harrahs/Linq/Flamingo) that we hadn't gotten to yet. We wound up with awesome 5th row center section seats for the early show of Zumanity by checking with the box office about a half an hour before the show started, I think the original price would have been nearly $400 after tax and fees and I paid around $170. I would definitely recommend a seat near center stage since so much happens right up front. After that, our friends got in and got settled, then we gambled at MGM and headed down to Bellagio for the fountains and more gambling. My female friend and I were wandering around the slot machines near Hyde while the guys were playing video games, we were approached by someone working the door and let in free of charge in front of the line. We stayed for about ten minutes to see what was happening then left because it was decently crowded and we wanted to get back out to the guys. Late night dinner at Taco Bell finished off our night.
Saturday we once again did breakfast at the MGM buffet, per request of our friends - I definitely wouldn't recommend paying weekend prices unless you're wanting to drink shitty mimosas for two hours straight. For the $55ish we paid for the two of us I definitely wouldn't say it was worth it at all. We then headed to Pro Gun Club a little ways outside of Vegas - specifically chosen because my boyfriend and I are both experienced shooters and I wanted the chance to shoot a 50 cal, but one of our friends had never shot a gun and wanted to be able to shoot a 9mm. My boyfriend was there once before and the staff has been amazing both times - the outdoor range is great. By the time we got back it was nearly dark, so we walked from MGM up the strip to see some more of the strip at night, popped into the In n Out at the LINQ, hung out in different casinos here and there until 7 when we watched the Mirage volcano, then went through the Venetian some more. We took a lyft back to the hotel )damn near impossible to finally get a driver that showed up within five minutes for some reason), got ready and then we hung out at the MGM casino while our friends went to a show that wasn't of any interest to us.
Sunday we checked out of our hotel, checked our bags with the bellhop and grabbed lunch at Earl of Sandwich and hit up the sports book at Planet Hollywood to put some last minute bets down since we realized we could mail the tickets in if we won. We headed to the airport at about 2 even though our flight wasn't until 4:45 thinking that it was going to be insanely busy based on how crazy checkout had been in the morning, but we were dropped off by Lyft and made it to the terminal within 15 minutes. We watched as much of the Packers game as we could and played some last minute video blackjack before finally getting on our flight (delayed by an hour, almost missed our transfer to another plane in Phoenix but luckily they held the plane for us.
We definitely didn't NEED seven nights, but I'm glad we had the time to get out off of the strip for two full days. We got through just about everything we wanted to and didn't feel rushed. Next time we're back we'll probably just stay 3-4 days since we now know what we like and where we'll want to go back.
We actually grabbed a $1 chip from each casino we went into (other than those on Fremont street - we couldn't just get one from the cashiers or one of the dealers, we were told that we had to actually sit down and play which we weren't planning on doing at each casino) and wound up with 30 total, so we covered a lot of ground!
General takeaways -
-MyVegas saved us a TON of money - six free buffets (and a few random non-MGM rewards that we actually didn't wind up using due to the restrictions on when they could be used). I will absolutely keep playing for whenever we go next! We tried to leave slots running on our phones in the background whenever we were watching TV or something, and I played a bit of blackjack most days. We didn't learn about it until about 2 months before we came, and we each wound up with about 50-60k in loyalty points with very minimal effort.
-Lyft was insanely cheap with $5 off each ride - we spent about $50 total for 10 rides (including one to the airport gate, two to Fremont, two to Silvercar which is past the airport) compared to one $25 Uber to get us from the airport to the Signature.
-People aren't kidding when they say wear comfy shoes - I wore my comfiest pair of boots on Monday and wound up with a horrid blister that I didn't know was forming. Monday night through Thursday was hell for me because I had a quarter sized blister on the bottom of my foot - thank god for the $9 pads I was able to grab at CVS
-I do pole/aerial silks so I was insanely excited for Cirque shows, my boyfriend not so much - we both LOVED KA, I loved Zumanity and he at least semi-enjoyed it. Definitely give them a shot!
-Groupon saved us quite a bit of money on dinners as well, and we had a few others lined up for food/drinks/entertainment that we knew we could purchase if we wanted to use them.
-Silvercar is in fact legit, and you will wind up with a Silver Audi - any time we travel to a city with a Silvercar kiosk, we'll actively be seeking them out.
-We learned that rooms at the Signature can be rented on airbnb, which we definitely did not know before hand - just generally looking at prices the rooms on airbnb seemed like an awesome deal and we'll definitely check into that next time we come.
Once again, thanks for all of your help - we saved a ton of money and got so many good recommendations from you all!!

SHOT 2018/My tales of adventure in Las Vegas

So, you wanna go to SHOT show? You think it's all fun and games? Get to play with guns? See Jesse James and R. Lee Ermey? SHOT show is the annual pilgrimage of the unwashed masses to Las Vegas to rub elbows with youtube celebrities, bloggers and overseas businessmen copying US made equipment and share infectious disease.
If you love guns, gambling and gonorrhea - SHOT show is for you! It is not my typical idea of a good time. I am not a big fan of Las Vegas.
However: I do attend for a few reasons. First, I do enjoy travel and I'm platinum on AA so I can usually score an upgrade. Second, industry people are in there that I do hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars with business with so it's nice to put a face with the name and see what deals are out there. SHOT for me has been a bust for the past few years. Being a value guy, I want to buy at $1000 and sell at $3000 and as of recently the gun business is more like buy for $1 and sell for $1.10 if you get what I mean.
We used to do business at SHOT and now it's just checking in on foursquare, instagram and rubbing elbows with bloggers and the like. I want to make money, not spend money so this is very annoying to me.
Anyways, onto the play by play.
Monday, January 22nd. One day before SHOT show.
The TSA line is a shitshow thanks to, well TSA. I have pre check and breeze right through.
I slog my way to the lounge, as shitty as it is to wait for my winged chariot to DFW. I have gone from being in an abusive relationship with Delta to being in an abusive relationship with AA. Although if you really want to experience the battered spouse feeling, UA is a few gates over.
I board my flight to Dallas/FW and my Renton assembled chariot is having a problem with one of the ring laser gyros, the hate agent tells us we are delayed for an indeterminate amount of time. Even as an AA Plat, I have no cleared upgrades. I am number 4 on the list with one seat open to Dallas/FW. I am 39/61 for Dallas/FW to LAX.
Fuck my life.
I gate check my bags to make life easier for me and the rest of the folks slumming it. If I don't have to worry about being short on time, I like to gate check to free up bins for those who are not as fortunate. Eventually I board and ask the FA to say hi to the captain and get a ride report. Light chop all over north texas today and we're going to take the long way around the field due to wind.
Me: I guess it's true. Dallas always does seem to blow a little harder in the postseason...
CA: Hahhahaha
FO: You got that right! Go eagles!
Having brightened the day of the flight crew, I head back to my MCE seat in Y and kick back and relax by listening to my Rumours, my favorite fleetwood mac album on my ipod.
We land at Dallas an hour and a half late eating into my 4 hour spa layover I had planned. I hightail it to the Centurion lounge in terminal D, my home away from home. Thankfully I don't need a massage since I brought my friend Laura some homemade chocolate rice crispy squares and she gave me a one hour massage and gave me a happy ending.
I grab a plate and help myself to some of the excellent chicken and some mashed red potatoes and bacon It is cheesy and DELICIOUS. Between that and the poblano rice, I can feel it going straight to my thighs. No, I do not care. NOM NOM NOM
https://imgur.com/a/WBcyd
The lounge is packed. The bar is full and I grab a quick single malt as I have my meal since American's not going to feed me. They begin boarding to LAX as I walk out of the lounge. I make it to the gate and the entire plane has boarded because the screens say they are boarding group 9.
Giving the FA a friendly nod, I ask to say hi to the captain and I stride through J and say hello to the two gentlemen flying today. Aviation nerd protip: CHECK YOUR ROUTING!
I didn't, but I had a hunch since arriving from the east we'd get the ANJLL 1 or the HLYWD 1 arrival. I got a 50/50 shot. Let's see how good I am.
Drop my bags at the threshold, poke my head in.
Me: Howdy guys, we still looking good for the Hollywood 1 tonight?
CA: Man, you did your homework yes we are! GABBL transition as a matter of fact!
Damn I'm good.
FC: Nice! I know you guys take a rash of crap from drunk Parker so I like to say hello to the folks who do the heavy lifting and I'm a total airplane dork so it's cool to check the place out.
CA: I'm an airplane dork too! I'm Jeff Rowland, nice to meet ya!
SUPER nice guy. He gave me a tour of the airplane, even took a picture of me in the left seat.
https://imgur.com/a/xVIy6
Here he is showing me some stuff around the airplane. He gives me the grand tour of the 787-9 including this neat feature that actually measures how many G's they have on landing so they know whether or not they need an overweight landing inspection or not. AMAZING airplane. I'm shown all the bells and whistles and they tell me how fun the plane is to fly. Jeff takes a few pics of me in the best seat of the house. I tell the guys I'll see them at the in and out burger on Sepuldeva and I hike back to my seat in W.
The FA's were wondering where I was, and they gave away my assigned seat. I take an empty center aisle seat and make life easier for everyone. W in the 787-9 is a solid hard product. The BE Aerospace MI-Q seat is a good ride whether in it for 3 hours to LAX or 13 to CDG like I was in a few months ago. https://imgur.com/a/iPHVh
The boarding door closes for an on time departure and I watch another airplane movie - American Made with Tom Cruise. He's so dreamy. Jeff's PA's were really lame and had a whole bunch of people laughing in the back on the way to LA. The flight was not long enough. The landing is a perfect grease job on 24L and we await a tug to get towed into gate 41 at LAX. I say thanks again to the flight crew - worthy of note, http://andystravelblog.boardingarea.com/2018/01/29/pilots-lette
My next hop via a 737 to LAS is uneventful. I stop at the Centurion lounge for some freshly squeezed OJ. It is DELICIOUS as AA's app tells me my bags are being unloaded.
I grab my things and hop in the last car Hertz has in the gold section - a 2016 Toyota Corolla. Times are rough. I'm at Circus Circus again. I check in and tell the lady about the last time I was there with the neighbors and the extremely loud sex. She damn near busts a gut laughing and upgrades me to a skyrise room and gives me a line pass and complimentary buffet.
I arrive to my room where housekeeping has not cleaned it to my exacting specifications. Specifically, there are like three hairballs from a cat in the chair next to the desk. I ask for another room and they set it up for me. It's now 1AM. In and out burger is closed.
Fuck.
Tuesday, January 23rd SHOT Show Day One
You gotta get into the palazzo garage before 8AM or you are not getting a spot. I get in at 8:01 and miraculously find a spot. They are doing so much construction at the resort that I don't recognize it. I grab my pass and check in with some other industry associates. My first day is semi-eventful as I check out the sig 365, a very promising concealed carry product as well as a few other really neat things and many many useless items.
I run into u/chugbleach in the basement and we trade stories. He shows me some neat stuff he's been working on. We plan to dine later in the week and I continue walking the show when I see the most amazing booth ever.
Backstory: https://www.reddit.com/guns/comments/7ag6oj/gsg_stg_44/dp9u9hw/
I let fluff buy the hook, he posts $120 to win $100 if he gets his HMG gun by the end of Q1. If gun arrives on time, he gets $100 from me. If no, I get $120 from him.
I walk back to chug.
FC: DUDE DUDE DUDE YOU GOTTA SEE THIS COME QUICK
CB: Okay lets go
We walk briskly not 100 feet. I stop quickly. Chug looks confused.
I gesticulate wildly to our right.
This is what we see.
I crack up laughing and can barely contain myself. This is the greatest thing I have seen in weeks.
On that note it is time to take a break for lunch. I head up to one of my vendors who has a hospitality suite for the show and they are serving jambalaya for lunch every day. As a Louisiana boy, we do love jambalaya. There's a reason I spend lots of money with them. I eat and have a coke as I trade gun jokes with other gun dealers. I wander around the show and nothing else jumps at me.
I walk the footbridge over to the Wynn to see how the house is doing. The poker room is full. I draw $2500 from my credit line and head down to the craps table to throw some dice. I have some mixed success as it's getting late and I want to hit the in and out burger so as I'm getting ready to leave, Laura sends me a bunch of filthy text messages about what she wants to do to me when I get back. My chips and raging boner leave the tables quickly as I duck into the bathroom to tell her that if she wants to treat me like a prisoner on a conjugal visit - I went to 8 years of catholic school, she's entering a world of pain. She says game on.
After a quick trip to the cage to cash out, I'm up or down something like $100. I swing by in and out burger for a double double. It is delicious. Sleepy time.
Wednesday, January 24th. Day 2 of SHOT show.
Alarm goes off at 7:45 AM. I wash up, eat and get breakfast. In the garage by 8:15. Still manage to find a spot! Attendance is down this year. I get in line at Larue. They run out of dillo dust at 8:39. This is the line at 8:35 https://imgur.com/a/KLHrg
The show opens at 8:30. Fuck my life. I grab a dillo and some stickers for some friends and a few HK calendars. I wander around and talk to the guys over at Franklin Armory and their new SBR that isn't an SBR, SBS that isn't an SBS and rifle that isn't really a rifle BUT IS STILL A FIREARM. The projectiles they want to sell have fin stabilization and it's like a 55 grain flying Lombardi trophy. It's an interesting idea but I'm not 100% certain I would buy one personally. I trade war stories with a few other friends I meet up with at the show. I head down to the basement and I'm looking at a few accessories from Tactical Walls.
Just as I'm ready to leave - Joe Mantegna shows up and says hi to the reps.
FC: Mr Mantegna! I love your work! Can I get a picture?
JM: Sure.
Someone grabs my phone and snaps a pic
FC: You are great in the simpsons as Fat Tony. Just the best!
JM: (in fat tony voice) I don't get mad. I get stabby.
FC: That's awesome! Thanks! Enjoy the show!
I send the pics to some friends who enjoy snappy Mamet plays and they are all jealous. I head down to the basement. The ATF booth is vacant due to the government shutdown. So is the FBI booth. Oh well. I head upstairs to the manufacturer supplier section and I find out that Olympic Arms is still in business making things. I do a lap and get some business cards from some precision machine companies that can make some elaborate parts. Jambalaya again for lunch. Nom nom nom.
I head down to FN to talk shop with the guys down there and give them shit. FN's new innovation is a two tone FDE/Black gun. So now 50% of the gun does not have to match. I trade barbs with Mike Hoffman and we debate the age old question, is it really gay if you can suck your own cock? Just as I mention this, Steve Bannon shows up at the booth. That's my stop. I say hello to the director of commercial sales on my way out and go to the Knights booth where I find they're making 6.5 Creed stuff now. Interesting how quickly that cartridge has caught on. I talk shop with a few of the KAC guys and then I steal some more HK Kalendars for friends back home.
I hit the Circus Circus buffet with my free pass for the unpleasantness and it is not that great at all. They ran out of roast beef. I mean, really? SHOT SHOW IS IN TOWN! We are beef eating gun owners, and you're gonna run out of roast beef? This would never happen at the Wynn, an amazing property. I make a mental note to sell my MGM Mirage stock and buy some Wynn in the morning. I head back to the craps table and lose a shitload of money. I witness a heater happen after I color up and watch people go nuts. My luck at MGM properties has not been good. Ugh. I don't feel like doing gunnit live and head to sleep early.
Thursday, January 25th. Day 3 of SHOT show.
I message Chug and let him know that it's gotta be tonight if we're gonna hang since I fly out Friday night for Boston. We plan to make plans for dinner. I head to the show and get there at 3 minutes to 8. One of my best customers calls me wanting an XM2010. I head over to Remington and through some finagling they manage to say YES WE CAN SELL IT EVEN THOUGH WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO SELL IT. I work up a quote and get the customer the info and tell him what's what. I visit the nighthawk custom booth where they have a new gun chambered in .45 APC.
https://imgur.com/a/9bNe7
I kid with a few FBI guys about their attention to detail. I saunter about the show. Leatherman Tool Group always has some nice things to play with. Tim Leatherman is engraving tools for people with his autograph. I'm happy with all of his products I own and I stop by to shake his hand and tell him that my wave has saved my ass on a hundred different occasions and I once resurrected a Ford off the side of the road. He says he loves hearing the stories and he's a pretty nice guy.
I wander about a little more and I find myself over at the Emerson Knife Company booth looking around.
For those not in the know, Emerson has a bunch of specwar types as customers. Damn good knives and operator customers. One of them is behind the table wearing a badge that says JOHN SMITH - JOHN SMITH INC. He's got arms that are as thick as my legs and he looks like a Navy Seal. He bolts upright from his seat and looks at my wrist.
"Is that a 1675?"
FC: Sure is! Damn good eye! My dad won it in an underground poker game in Hong Kong in 1968 from a couple of navy guys on shore leave that flew F4's off Dixie Station.
"Holy crap, that's fucking awesome!"
We talk watches and guns and killing people for a while. He says he's in the navy and the budweiser insignia necklace he is wearing tells me everything I need to know. Nice guy. I wonder what his real name is as the show closes down and as I walk out the magpul booth gives me a laugh. A paper sign on the door says "DOOR IS LOUD AF CLOSE GENTLY"
I'm not kidding - https://imgur.com/a/GgSkU
I head over to Chug's hotel and he gives me the grand tour. It's way nicer than my hotel. We go out and have dinner. I'm asked if I like Thai.
FC: Tie good, you like shirt?
Nobody gets my simpsons jokes. We go to dinner where a good time is had by all. Chug gets a call and needs to drop off a SHOT show pass to a co-worker of his flying in. As opposed to all the mechanics of a dead drop at the palazzo etc I tell him fuck it, just give it to me and I'll pick him up from the airport. In exchange, I tell him I want all the leftover chicken wings from the Thai place.
It's a deal. I grab the wings and head to McCarran. There's a guy in a BRZ hauling ass and I decide to see what this shitbox can do. I get the Corolla up to 115 MPH on the highway before backing down to a more sensible speed. After 5 minutes of MARCO / POLO I find the fellow and give him his shot show pass and a ride to his hotel. I find it funny that last year I ran an unapproved uber substitute and here we are again and the same thing is happening. I'm offered gas money or a beer after the show and I tell him hey, it's your first time at SHOT - enjoy the show, don't sweat it.
I hightail it up the strip to the Palazzo where I play a bit and eventually see a heater in progress. I split the 6/8 for $120 each and they hit. I press it and they hit again. Maybe this won't be a bad trip after all. Table craps out and I cash out still down a few bucks but better than when I started.
By the time I make it back to the room, it's 4AM. I eat the chicken wings. They're delicious.
Friday, January 26th. Day 4 of SHOT show.
I've gotten most of what I want to get done, done. I ordered some Firearm Instructor body armor from one of my guys since lots of people want me dead first thing in the AM and things were going good. I sleep in and debate what I want for breakfast when I realize things are going a little too good. Nothing really bad has happened this trip yet. I pack up and get ready to leave the hotel when I get a push notification.
MOTHERFUCKER
My flight to Boston has been canceled.
My confirmed first class seats on one of the hardest to upgrade legs in the entire AA route network - LAX to BOS, gone. AA proactively books me on the flight leaving LA a few hours later IN COACH. A middle seat, even. No, just no. I call American and they tell me the plane is broken. Damnit. I look on the app for acceptable reroutings and there is nothing available in first. I say fuck it, I'll deal with this shit later. I have the rental car until midnight, lots of time to make a new plan. I check out of the hotel, throw my bags in the car and head down to the show and it's a freaking ghost town. Parking spaces everywhere. I say bye to a few folks as my phone sends me a notification. WSJ: STEVE WYNN ACCUSED OF DECADES OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT
Oh FUCK MY LIFE. I bought the stock back on Wednesday. GODDAMNIT STEVE WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BULLSHIT
I skip lunch and walk across the street to the Wynn and their corporate office.
You see, I have a simple theory. If the allegations are false, they should have no problem sending someone out to listen to my concerns and say the allegations are false and here's everything we're doing to fight it. If the allegations are true, they'll send down hired goons to throw me out the door.
It's sorta like spousal infidelity. If A finds evidence of B cheating, credit card statements, sexts, racy pictures, etc - and A confronts B and B admits it and says I want a divorce, B is guilty. If B says A is cheating on them what the fuck are you doing looking at my credit card statements and phone you're the one that's wrong and invading my privacy get the fuck out of my house - B is really guilty.
That's the theory. If they go full retard and bounce me off the property, the stock is probably going to go down some more. If they address the concerns, things should not be as bad.
Since I walked through the property the last time I was in town, I knew where the corporate office was. The name on my broker statement says WYNN RESPORTS and so did the sign on the doors. I walk through the doors and to the end of the hallway where there's another electronically locked door that is unlocked.
There's a security guard who is nonplussed sitting at a desk wondering if I'm lost. I explain to him that I'm a shareholder and I want to know what this company is doing about this catastrophe. He says he can't say/do anything and I'm instructed to leave. I ask him if he can take a message. He says yes, and I'm like you just said you can't do anything. So what's that supposed to mean?
I argue with him about what he supposedly can and cannot do as I eat raspberry macrons that have been plated at the reception area of the corporate office. THESE BETTER BE THE BEST FUCKING MACARONS I HAVE EVER EATEN GODDAMNIT. They are. Fuck.
He tells me that my best bet is to talk to someone else at the resort, not him. Fine.
I leave and head to the concierge desk - because from one concierge to another, we can solve problems. I explain the situation and instead of routing me to the press office or investor relations - they give me a phone and tell me to speak to guest services. AKA the people that help you with your stay as a guest of the hotel. I give the lady taking the message about 15 minutes worth of comments and she's assured me that they'll be passed along to management.
Given the circumstances I think that's the best I'm going to do today. Now, there's the issue of me being stuck in vegas for another night. I look down at my phone and AA has offered three itineraries flying out of McCarran tomorrow IN FIRST CLASS that gets me to Boston in a timely fashion. I jump on the 625AM flight to Charlotte. This means I need to be at the car rental by 525AM and out the door around 0430. Fuck my life. And I have nowhere to sleep/showeshit/shave.
As I'm walking back to the esplanade to cross back over to the Palazzo where my car is, I notice the registration desk. I get in line and a lovely lady asks what she can do for me.
I tell her that I'm a shareholder and I'm pretty mad about the way the company is handling their sex offender in chief. And given the $18 haircut I took on the stock today, if there's an angry shareholder discount on a room tonight I think that would be more than fair given the circumstances. She agrees and gets me a bottle of water and the manager. The manager asks me if I've stayed at the hotel before, the answer is yes and asks to see my ID so she can see if she can plug me in at a repeat guest rate.
A few minutes go by and I wait patiently at the desk when I'm tapped on the shoulder.
There's two former NFL linebackers, one with his back towards me and the other introducing himself as the director of security.
Hmmm. Lets see. For those not in the know, there's only one exit in and out of the wynn registration desk.
If there's two bodies on me, there's gotta be at least two more at each side of the wall behind it that I can't see, I figure 4 sets of eyes running the eye in the sky all with their eyes glued to the monitors, the director of security is holding my ID which means he's already got my play, my comps, my markers, run me through central credit, my red card, he's got metro running me for wants/warrants and there's probably an unmarked metro ford next to a service exit with an open door and a seat reserved for me in the back.
I look down at my watch. The market is closed. I can't sell. Fuck. Because there is no way in hell this stock is holding $180 monday morning.
Quickly, I bang out a message to my brother letting him know I am about to be arrested at the Wynn and to start googling Las Vegas bail bonds.
The two security guys tell me to step away from the front desk and they want to know what the hell I'm doing. I tell them I want answers from the management of this company about how they're handling this disaster. They say I can't just walk into a casino corporate office and ask to speak to someone.
Well, I just did. Why can't I?
They said it represents a major security risk and a breach of their perimeter. After all, Mr. Wynn takes his security at the hotel very seriously.
Me: I suppose if I were a sex offender with hired goons, I'd take my security seriously too. And if you really didn't want people going back there - last time I checked, this is a casino. The doors have locks. Perhaps you should have oh I don't know, locked them?
Wynn Security: What makes you think you can just walk in here and talk to us like that?
Me: I'm a stockholder. Technically you work for me.
Wynn Security: You honestly expect that a big company like us is going to send someone out of the corporate office to talk to a guy like you about a thing like this? That never happens in corporate america.
Me: That's strange. Michael Moore did exactly that and that's what made him famous. What's your point?
We bantered in the registration area of the Wynn for something like an hour and 45 minutes as the director of security wandered back and forth. They never backed down with the questions and I never backed down from the answers. A lot of casino security is former law enforcement so they're looking for that time you change your story like on an episode of cops. For instance, if it was cops it would go like
Cop: who's drugs are these?
1: Never seen em before
fast forward 2 min
1: I mean my friend smokes pot, maybe it's his
Cop: I thought you said you never seen em before?
fast forward 2 min
1: So I smoke a little pot okay
Cop: I thought you said it might be your friends pot?
fast forward 2 min
1: yeah it's my pot
They were looking for a reason to throw me out and as far as I can tell, they probably still are. I'm sorta expecting a registered letter in the mail barring me from the property in a week. If I start yelling, it's disorderly conduct and they have a case. If start pushing someone around, same thing. But if I speak candidly and gesticulate wildly and raise cogent points about how every single hotel employee I've dealt with thus far owns a combined total of zero shares in the company - they have no skin in the game and I do. So, they can't really criticize my opinion as wrong because I'm the stockholder not them. At least, that's my opinion. I could be wrong.
Well, the goons disagreed with me and said I was wrong. They also said that this could have been accomplished with a phone call. I said no, because you wouldn't take a phone call seriously. And now you're taking this seriously. So, match point: FC.
They didn't like that. It would not surprise me in the least if Steve Wynn was in the security booth with a radio telling his guys to find some reason to arrest me and have me sent to Clark County booking. This guy just feels guilty as sin. I can't prove it but my gut has usually been right about this sort of thing.
As I'm waiting for my inevitable arrest and booking, I wonder if American Airlines will allow me another flight change due to temporary incarceration. Because there's no way I'll be able to leave the state with an ROR or a signature bond out. I look over at Mean Joe Greene Jr and tell him I was too angry to eat lunch and I'd like to have a seat before my blood sugar crashes and my head hits the floor and Steve sends me a bill for the shattered italian marble.
He gestures towards a chair in the reception area and I have a sit. He offers to bring me another water. I decline. He brings me a water anyways. I consume both the waters as compliments of the house as a sign of untoward cooperation.
Out of the corner of my eye I see the director of security talking to two metro PD guys with handcuffs out. I hear over the radio they're asking for a rover to take me down to the security office for fingerprinting and photographs. He is gesticulating wildly.
The director of security comes back over and he tries to get me to crack on my story. I tell him I'm here as a shareholder as a private citizen demanding accountability of the management. I will not apologize for walking through an unlocked door to the corporate office asking to speak to someone to hear out my concerns, I will not apologize for going to the concierge since the previous person was very unhelpful and I will not apologize for expecting the highest standards of a fortune 1000 company chairman and CEO. And until you pony up and buy some stock, I'm not about to take a lecture about what is and isn't acceptable behavior from people who don't have skin in the game protecting what should be by all accounts a registered sex offender.
He looks back at Metro PD.
They shrug.
They've got nothing chargeable on me.
Hell, I'm not even counting cards this time.
Next thing I know he quickly walks away and returns with a late 20's hispanic fellow who introduces himself as the hotel manager. He says that he's gotten a report from security and that Mr. Wynn's private life he cannot comment on but the concerns I have will be sent up towards management.
FC: So you're the hotel manager? So you report to Matt Maddox. You tell him that this is a mess. Nobody comes back from this sort of thing. Not Harvey Weinstein. Not Louis CK. Not Matt Lauer. Not Bill O'Reilly. Not Bill Cosby. Not Kevin Spacey. Not Charlie Rose. Not Al Franken. And the LAST time this happened at Mirage, a shareholder revolt wound up sending the company into the hands of MGM. What's to stop Sheldon from across the street from doing the same thing? You tell them that.
The manager nods and offers me a room at a rate, inclusive of resort fee and taxes of $335/night. I take out my phone, look at the Hotel Tonight app and realize that I'm being charged more money than if I were to book the room from a consolidator.
Now, I don't mind the lie about understanding where I'm coming from. I do mind the insult to my intelligence. I am handed back my ID and the hotel manager offers his business card. I take his business card and go over to the cage. I close my credit line and take my deposit out of the cage. I'm down for the trip. Fuck this shit, I'll deal with it later. I call my brother and tell him that I've been released. We look at some flights and to get back to Boston will require another night in Las Vegas. Everything leaving tonight is full due to the conventions closing up.
AA has some seats open in first via Charlotte and Philly, I take the Charlotte flight leaving at 6:30 AM from McCarran and they confirm me seats in first all the way to Logan. This is the only thing to go right today. I purchase some clean clothes since I will not have time to do laundry in Boston anymore due to the delay and head over to the palace station oyster bar. The wait is about 2 hours but I make some friends in line while I'm there. I am torn between the alaskan chowder and the bouillabaisse. I ask Steve behind the bar what he thinks is best. He says do the bouillabaisse. I tell him that sounds excellent, and to add extra lobster. I ask him how long, he says could be 30 minutes but check back in 20. I tell him I'm gonna go hit the tables and I'll be back in 20. The timer on my phone begins counting down.
I belly up to the nearest craps table and I drop my cash down. I tell them I want it in black and red and the croupier complies. I bet the 6/8 split with mixed success and the pass line with odds. The shooter misses the point. I look down at my dwindling stack of chips and there's 15 minutes left.
Fuck it. Go big or go home. Lets get this shit over with. The point comes off. I drop $100 on the pass line. New shooter gets the dice and the come out roll hits a 10.
I look at the gal with the whip. I throw her a stack of chips.
FC: Full odds on the ten, $200 hard way, give me all the numbers and a nickel c and e.
New shooter proceeds to hit every number on the board, midnight, yo and a speed limit. Pass line pays even money. Pass odds pays 2-1. I'm looking down at a big stack of chips. What the fuck just happened?
I drop $100 on the pass line again, the point comes out for an 8. I take full odds and all the numbers. New shooter hits every number on the board, midnight, yo, except the 8. The guy next to me has the all or nothing at all working so the only thing left to hit is the 8 and it's gonna pay 175:1. The 8 does not hit. Everyone is chasing the 8'er from Decatur.
I look down at my stack and the table limit and the boxman.
FC: hey Joe, what's the juice on laying the 8?
Joe: 5 points!
I take down my pass line odds.
FC: I want everything off and I'll lay the 8 for a dime.
Everyone at the table looks at me like I'm a lunatic. I slide over two purple chips and two green for the vig.
Time remaining until bouillabaisse: 8 minutes.
Lets see what happens. The dice bang around a bunch of more times. I'm ahead for this trip. Way ahead. Next thing I know, the gal with the whip calls no roll. One of the dies have left the table.
Time remaining until bouillabaisse: 4 minutes.
This is my stop.
FC: Take down my lay, and I'll color up.
The boxman colors me up, I leave a nice tip for the crew and start to walk over to the cage to cash in. I hear screaming and profanity, I turn around and I see the dealers stacking chips. The shooter has 7'd out.
Time remaining until bouillabaisse: 2 minutes.
There's a long line at the cage. I walk back to the oyster bar and I see a big bowl with a plate covering it. Steve behind the bar has thought of everything.
I turn the plate over and look down at my stack of chips. Maybe today won't be so bad after all.
https://imgur.com/a/bjK7R
The bouillabaisse is delicious. The win is even more delicious. I nom my way to the bottom of the bowl and settle up the bill. I leave Steve a nice tip as I head over to the Palazzo to say hi to some friends. I find myself at a craps table you can hang meat upon. This is not good. It's getting late and I head over to my room at the Mandalay Bay.
Now, here's the fucked up part. This girl I've been hooking up with didn't hook up with me before I left for SHOT. She's been messing with my brain for a whole week. I check in to the Mandalay Bay where there's a goddamn pornstar convention going on.
FML.
I find myself down at a craps table at 11PM and bringing a frontier flight attendant named Amber back to my room. The lucky streak continues. My flight leaves in a few hours. I kick her out of my room and pass out.
Flight leaves at 625 for CLT. Need to be at McCarran at 525. Out the door of the hotel by 5AM at the latest. I set my alarm.
*Saturday, January 27th. *
I wake up to see the sun shining through my hotel room. I look down at the alarm clock. 8:01AM.
My long standing joke is that I sleep like a dead prostitute. The evening of ravenous illegal in 48 states sex has taken its toll. Fuck. I grab the phone and press the button for guest services. I turn on the speaker as I open my bag wide and just stuff everything in as fast as I can. I throw my boots on as I tell them to check me out over the phone. I haul ass downstairs to the garage and I get to McCarran and board the shuttle to Terminal 1. I walk up to the AA desk knowing I am 11 different kinds of fucked. Nancy the gate agent starts working on my departure. AA's rule is 2 hours from departure on a flat tire. That's 8:25 AM. It's a few minutes before 9. Nancy the great agent cannot get anything to work. She has to put me in the special services line. By the time I get there, they tell me I'm flying standby and I'm on the flight to Philly leaving at 1PM in the afternoon. There is no way in hell they can get me on the 10AM to Phoenix.
My cousin is getting married in Boston and she is going to fucking kill me. I told her I'd be there around 6PM on the rebooking. And now I'm going to be leaving for Philly in 4 hours. Granted, the Amex Centurion Lounge has freshly squeezed OJ but that's not going to be enough today. I run to TSA and get cleared. I run past the Centurion to head straight for the Phoenix gate. Hopefully other folks have had an irish layover. The gate agent there starts working me and she says that they have two open seats and that they're gonna get me on. Just sit tight. I step to the side to let her help a few other folks gate check bags. The clock is ticking and her colleague closes the boarding door as I'm standing next to the gate looking fucked. I take a deep breath and try to keep it together.
A tap on the shoulder.
"Sir, your boarding pass. Exit row window. I've taken the liberty and called back to make sure there's space in the overhead for my bags so you don't have to gate check. You are good to go."
I look up at the three ladies working the podium.
FC: Can I hug any of you?
Gate Agent 1: No
Gate Agent 2: I'm sick
Gate Agent 3: Sure, why not?
I head behind the counter and give her a hug. She seems pleased.
I hightail it to the door. Gate agent 2 opens it up for me. I run down the jetway like a charging rhino, Chris Christie like. The flight attendants greet me by name and they realize that my nose is bleeding from the 8 ball I shared with Amber a few hours back. The FA points at my nose and asks me if I'd like to step into the lav. I realize it's probably pretty bad. I leave my bags in the galley and duck in and I stuff a bunch of paper in my nose as an ersatz tampon. I walk back out, grab my bags and I declare to the entire plane it's the dry air not a cocaine problem.
Nobody believes me.
I take my seat and there's an empty seat between me and an in uniform FA on the way home. We chat a bit and Cathy thinks my story is hilarious. She even gets on AA's PALL list for the flight to Boston and checks and says I'm number one on standby R4. A nice lady, I offer her one of my extra LaRue Dillo's. She thinks they're cute.
The working FA walks back and looks down at the traveling FA and says very discreetly there's a 40 minute ground hold due to PHX losing a runway. This is gonna be really really tight. My connecting flight to Boston is not looking good. We wait the 40 minutes for the hold and make it to PHX about 15 minutes behind schedule. I bolt to the Boston gate. I ask if they've cleared all the standby passengers. They say yes. I say I should be number one and they hand me a ticket in coach.
FC: Any way I can talk you into a seat in the front of the plane?
The hate agent just looks at me funny. He does not seem to think that's happening. He asks me if I have status on the airline. Sure do. He says no promises.
I tell him no sweat, I'm gonna go take a leak and come back around in 5.
I walk back up and he hands me my new boarding pass.
https://imgur.com/a/IJuPe
I call my cousin and tell her that I'm gonna be a few hours late. Great ride all the way into Boston. I sleep like a dead prostitute.
https://imgur.com/a/RKMSu
Just as we cruise past the city of big shoulders, the FA wakes me up.
"Mr Hayden, would you like some ice cream?"
I look at my neighbor who is a middle age female executive and she is plowing through hers like Sherman through Atlanta.
FC: You know what, Chuck? I've always wanted to say this. I'll have what she's having.
https://imgur.com/a/our5R
Ice cream on the ground, delicious.
Ice cream on a plane, FUCKING FANTASTIC.
FC out.

Kaneo With The WASHington Post Ahead Of Epic LAN Hashtag 15

Valued UKDota member Squirrel speaks out on the world's injustices; single handedly makes world better place
Celebrations today as news has arrived that Joe "Squirrel" Izatt has single handedly managed to convince Multiplay to create a cheap under 18s only ticket for the popular Insomnia Gaming Festival. Rightfully, as he pointed out, it is very unfair that under 18s at iseries cannot drink or make use of the nearby casino, and as such should be compensated by having to pay much less. We here at the WASHington post have further EXCLUSIVES into more of Squirrel's endeavors to make the world a better place:
* Free entry to ODEON cinemas for the legally blind * Partial refunds on those yoghurt pots where you just can't quite get to all the yoghurt * Half price discounts on Domis for people with half their tastebuds missing * Buffets are now banned from all restaurants as they are simply unfair, fat people get much more for their money * Tinder premium now costs less if you are ugly * Discounts on gym memberships for disabled people that cannot use the gym to exercise but just want to fuck about in the gym lobby anyway * If you are under the age of consent, it is now cheaper to go to strip clubs if you just want a glass of orange juice * If you are not single, nights out clubbing are now cheaper
and also, don't forget:
* 3 Extra LANs running every single weekend throughout the year, with at least one LAN being dedicated to the UKCG (United Kingdom Custom Game community) * Legislation that allows free reign for retarded people to terrorize nerds
Danny D to form first inmates only Dota 2 team
After the news that Steven "Korok" Ashworth could be incarcerated following his recent actions, chat logs have revealed that Danny D is looking to team up with other convicted felons after he is finally convicted of fraud.
[06/22/2015 2:42:45 PM] Danny: hey man
[06/22/2015 2:42:46 PM] Danny: how u doing?
[06/22/2015 6:24:53 PM] Danny: ye
[06/22/2015 6:24:57 PM] Danny: talk 2 u tomorrow
[06/22/2015 7:31:19 PM] Danny: Yo Korok
[06/22/2015 8:46:02 PM] Danny: Talk 2 me when you can want some advice really
[06/22/2015 8:46:10 PM] Danny: Sorry for being a pest
[06/22/2015 9:35:02 AM] Danny: when you free for a chat?
[06/22/2015 12:25:21 PM] Danny: good luck in you're court case :0
[06/22/2015 6:56:31 PM] Danny: Korok mate
[06/22/2015 6:56:35 PM] Danny: unlucky earlier
[06/22/2015 6:56:40 PM] Danny: Liked u 2 win
[06/22/2015 7:10:22 AM] Danny: hey bro
[06/22/2015 7:10:26 AM] Danny: when you free for a chat?
[06/22/2015 5:09:31 PM] Danny: you busy bro?
[06/23/2015 4:22:16 AM] Danny: you free dude?
[06/23/2015 7:25:36 AM] Danny: yo
[06/23/2015 7:25:37 AM] Danny: korok
[06/23/2015 7:25:37 AM] Danny: sup
[06/23/2015 7:25:41 AM] Danny: U free at all?
[06/23/2015 6:38:08 PM] Danny: sup
[06/23/2015 6:38:09 PM] Danny: Korok
[06/23/2015 6:38:13 PM] Danny: Got a moment mate?
[06/23/2015 10:15:58 AM] Danny: Korok hey dude
[06/23/2015 10:16:07 AM] Danny: what u planning to do since prison
Supposedly Danny is also looking at known players "laowai" and "Ar1se" as potential for his inmates team. News more relevant to the UK scene is that Danny is desperately searching for a player known only as "BIG MAN", who could be arrested after committing unspeakable acts in a JoinDota League game against Danny's ex team "FL.int".
Choke Gaming add up to four players to lineup
In an effort to exceed performances of the previous Epic LAN, Choke Gaming have announced that they will be adding at least three more players to their lineup. Choke Gaming gave us a comment specifically about star player LoG_Reeper:
"We were extremely impressed with how LoG_Reeper performed on DreadKnight's team at epic.FOURTEEN. For example, he made the use of a blink dagger on the enemy Earthshaker redundant by innovatively using Skewer in order to give Earthshaker the best possible positioning in order to use Echo Slam on our team. We have also added him in order to learn more about his use of Supernova on Phoenix. Such incredible spell usage made it really difficult for us in the fights. We are also investigating into how using Reverse Polarity on thin air, having a hero pool thinner than Solrak's hairline and how not microing Meepo past grouping all five units together can be beneficial. We are looking forward to having a sixth player this LAN, similarly to how JOHN_SMEDLEY had a sixth player last time. We are very glad to be taking on someone who many have described as the best player in the UK, if not perhaps the entire universe."
JOHN_SMEDLEY lineup at epic.FOURTEEN:

Gronors

Reports are also in about Steven "Korok" Ashworth, who has allegedly been offered a place on CHOKE Gaming after a "very impressive one sided 1v1 vs. a certain Peruvian individual".
Community bids farewell to beloved Darkshift
Commiserations to be had for the UKDota scene today after it was recently revealed by the man himself that Darkshift plans to relinquish playing Dota 2, after a long run having successfully protested for more equal rights for lower MMR players. It was never ascertained quite how many MMR points the prodigy had, but some top detectives had found evidence pointing that the player had something to the tune of 1500 of them at least. Fans commented on how he made waves in the community. "He had a great way with words. He was an excellent comedian and always had everyone laughing." We also recall when the player provided an excellent 1v1 series vs. Kappacino. Fortunately we have information that Darkshift plans to remain as a poster on /ukdota, for he was known for his activism on the site especially. He follows in the footsteps of well known player Korben Dallas. Farewell!
UPDATE: Our detectives have been running extensive further mathematical analysis on this image. Using the patented "if u multilpy it by 5 do u get a duble digit numbeR" technique in conjunction with the "is this shit" technique, we have discovered that Darkshift is serious potential, and should teach iseries classes . Thankyou for your time.
UPDATE 2: Just kidding, he never left! Good stuff!
Rules for epic LAN 1v1 tournament to be changed
The WASHington post has come across concerns that the epic LAN 1v1 tournament could be dominated by famous player Jakkiedota if the rules remain as they are. Currently the rules are set that each player can pick a hero in a mirror match up setting, with the last game set as a Shadow Fiend mirror matchup if the series goes as a 1-1. The worry at the present moment is that giving Jakkie a choice to pick a greedy middle in one game will lead to the series inevitably going 2-1 to Jakkie, with nobody else having a remote chance in the tournament. Meanwhile there are rumours that the format for the 1v1 tournament finals may be changed from bo5 to bo3 the night before to accommodate for the finals finishing just 15 minutes before the end of the LAN, where it is anticipated by fans that Jakkie will take the series 2-1 over Gronors, with the first game going to Jakkie's Naga Siren, the second game going to Gronors' Antimage, and the third game going to Jakkie's Shadow Fiend, with the entire series taking just under 5 hours.
EDIT: Also just a big shout out to Wong's team who are now sponsored by XENEX, which sounds like a printer manufacturing company honestly and no we're not going to check.
